Brijuni National Park

The park consists of two large and 12 small islands and islets. It was used as a summer residence by Marshal Tito, the Yugoslavian president from 1949 till 1980. He added a number of oddities to the islands including animals such as zebras, antelope, and native plants. Today, only two main islands of Veli Brijun and Mali Brijun are open to the public. The main attractions in the Brijuni National Park are the remains of a second-century Byzantine fortress, a Roman Villa, the safari park, the church of St. Germana, and an exhibit to Tito. You can visit the national park with the whole family and enjoy a whole day. It is known as the “jewels of Istria”. It is the perfect place to enjoy the green landscape of the city.
